Returns and Refund Policy

RETURNS & REFUNDS POLICY
Effective Date: 8 September 2026
1. Introduction
At Pressed (Pty) Ltd, we take pride in the quality and freshness of our macadamia products.
Because our products are food products and are packaged for hygiene and food-safety purposes, we have a limited returns policy. We will accept returns or provide an appropriate remedy where a product is confirmed to have a manufacturing or packaging defect, or where the product is found to be rancid upon opening.
This policy applies to purchases made through www.macpressed.com.
Nothing in this Returns & Refunds Policy is intended to limit any rights that a consumer may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) or other applicable South African legislation.
2. Shelf Life
Our products have the following shelf lives from the date of manufacture, provided that they are stored correctly and in accordance with the instructions provided on the product packaging:
ProductShelf Life
Macadamia Butter6 months
Macadamia Oil12 months
Customers are responsible for following the storage instructions provided on the product packaging.
Pressed cannot be held responsible for changes in product quality resulting from incorrect storage, exposure to excessive heat, sunlight, moisture, contamination, or other improper handling after delivery.
3. When We Accept Returns or Claims
We will consider a return, replacement or appropriate refund where:
3.1 Product is rancid upon opening
If a product is found to be rancid upon opening, please contact us as soon as possible.
Rancidity may affect the taste or smell of an oil or butter and can indicate deterioration of the product.
We may request information and evidence to allow us to investigate the matter, including:

  • Order number

  • Product name

  • Batch or lot number

  • Best-before/expiry date

  • Photographs of the product and packaging

  • Photographs of the label

  • A description of the issue

  • Other information reasonably required for our investigation

We may request that the product be returned to us for inspection or testing.
Where the product is confirmed to have been rancid or defective when supplied, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.
3.2 Defective container or packaging
If you receive a product with a defective container, please notify us as soon as possible.
Examples may include:

  • A container that is cracked or defective before use;

  • A faulty lid or seal;

  • A container that does not properly close; or

  • Another manufacturing or packaging defect that affects the product.

Please provide photographs of the container, packaging and product, together with your order details.
Where the defect is confirmed to have existed when the product was supplied, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.
4. Courier Damage and Breakages
Once an order has been handed to the courier for delivery, the goods are transported by a third-party delivery service.
Pressed does not accept responsibility for breakage or damage caused by a courier after the goods have left our possession, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
If your parcel arrives visibly damaged, we strongly recommend that you:

  1. Photograph the parcel before opening it;

  2. Photograph any damaged packaging;

  3. Photograph the damaged product and container;

  4. Keep the packaging and damaged goods; and

  5. Contact us as soon as possible.

We may assist you in communicating with the courier or investigating the delivery issue, but this does not constitute an acceptance of liability by Pressed for damage caused during third-party transportation.
5. Damage After Delivery
Pressed cannot accept responsibility for damage, breakage or deterioration that occurs after the customer or another person acting on the customer's behalf has taken possession of the product.
This includes damage caused by:

  • Dropping the container;

  • Incorrect handling;

  • Incorrect storage;

  • Exposure to excessive heat;

  • Exposure to direct sunlight;

  • Freezing where not recommended;

  • Contamination;

  • Incorrect use; or

  • Any other damage occurring after delivery that was not caused by a defect existing when the product was supplied.

6. Taste, Texture and Personal Preference
Our products are natural macadamia products and may have characteristics that vary between batches.
Variations in:

  • Taste;

  • Aroma;

  • Colour;

  • Consistency;

  • Texture; or

  • Natural separation

may occur and do not necessarily indicate that the product is defective.
We do not accept returns, refunds or exchanges simply because a customer does not like the taste, flavour, aroma or texture of a product, provided that the product is not defective, rancid or otherwise non-compliant with applicable consumer legislation.
Customers are encouraged to review the product information on our website before placing an order.
7. Change of Mind
Because our products are food and consumable products, we generally do not accept returns simply because a customer has changed their mind or no longer wants the product.
This does not affect any statutory cooling-off or other consumer rights that may apply to a particular transaction under South African law.
Where a statutory right applies, the relevant legal requirements will take precedence over this policy.
8. Products That Have Been Opened
For food-safety and hygiene reasons, customers should not return products that have been opened unless we specifically request the product to be returned as part of an investigation into a quality or packaging issue.
Where we request a product to be returned, we will provide instructions regarding the return process.
9. Reporting a Problem
If you believe that you have received a defective or rancid product, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

10. Investigation of Claims
All product-quality claims are subject to investigation.
Depending on the circumstances, Pressed may:

  • Request photographs;

  • Request the batch number;

  • Request the product to be returned;

  • Inspect the container and packaging;

  • Review production and batch records;

  • Conduct appropriate quality checks or testing; or

  • Request additional information from the customer.

We reserve the right to refuse a claim where our investigation reasonably determines that the product was not defective or rancid when supplied, or where the issue resulted from incorrect storage, handling, use or damage occurring after the product was supplied.
11. Refunds and Replacements
Where a claim is approved, Pressed may, depending on the circumstances and applicable law:

  • Replace the affected product;

  • Provide a refund;

  • Provide another appropriate remedy; or

  • Offer another resolution agreed with the customer.

Where a refund is approved, it will generally be processed using the original payment method where reasonably possible.
The time taken for the refund to reflect in the customer's account may depend on the relevant bank or payment service provider.
12. Proof of Purchase
A valid proof of purchase may be required before a return, replacement or refund can be processed.
This may include:

  • Order confirmation;

  • Invoice;

  • Receipt;

  • Order number; or

  • Other reasonable proof of purchase.

13. Consumer Rights
This Returns & Refunds Policy must be read together with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and other applicable South African legislation.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive a consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Where a mandatory legal right applies, that right will take precedence over this policy.
